I’ve entered the world of film photography and I’m never going back.

Once I switched from digital to film photography, I found myself having the same kind of fun I used to have while making images as a young enthusiast. Film has made photography an adventure again, one on which you’re not constantly looking down at an LED screen.

I was first introduced to film photography at a photo studio I used to work at in Brooklyn, NY. There I used a Mamiya RZ67, which is a beautiful camera however it is HUGE. I purchased one on eBay recently but I ended up selling it shortly after I bought a Pentax 67, which to this day is my personal favorite medium format film camera.

However, in anticipation of a trip I’m taking to the Dominican Republic in March, I purchased a Fujifilm GA645Zi. This camera is essentially a point and shoot Medium 645 Format camera with zoom lens with focal lengths of 55, 65, 75, and 90mm. IT IS BEAUTIFUL and it comes with a built in flash which is pretty darn cool. This is a camera you can walk around all day and just snap away without the burden of hanging the tank that is the Pentax 67 off your shoulder all day.

Should you try film photography? The answer in short, yes.

Here’s an article to help you figure out which film camera you should buy.

PS. the pictures shown in this post were captured on a Mamiya 7II with an 80mm lens. This, in my opinion would be the only camera I would ever use or own if it weren’t for the 1 meter minimum focus distance :(
